High-quality recordings lead to more accurate transcription and better feedback. Follow these tips for optimal results.

Audio Setup

  • Use headphones with a built-in microphone for best clarity
  • External USB microphones provide excellent quality
  • Built-in laptop/phone microphones work but may pick up background noise
  • Position your microphone 6-12 inches from your mouth

Environment

  • Choose a quiet room with minimal background noise
  • Close windows to reduce traffic or outdoor sounds
  • Turn off fans, air conditioners, or other noisy appliances
  • Soft furnishings (carpets, curtains) reduce echo

Speaking Technique

  • Speak at a consistent volume—not too loud or soft
  • Enunciate clearly, especially consonants
  • Maintain a steady pace; rushing affects transcription
  • Take natural pauses between sentences

Tip

Do a 10-second test recording before your full session to check audio levels and quality.
